After 5 years of rewarding all over India in the Wine industry, his passion has been chosen to the next level and wanted to work with foreign companies to understand the Old-New wine world, new technologies, business strategies and culture.

In 2015, Sankalp got selected for a scholarship in 50 applicants from all over the world in very highly reputed European institutions for higher education but unfortunately have not selected in the last final 5 applicants. Then he challenged and decided not to step back just because of the financial crisis. Obstacles are not stopping signs, they are guidelines, Sankalp said.

Immediately he decided to upgrade his skills and decided to become proficient in a very powerful & strong vehicle called ‘Forklift’ which is very useful for wineries. He started learning, after dedication & powerful practice he turns into a ‘Forklift Certified’

.

In 2017, he got selected in highly ranked amongst the most reputed educational institution IPC, part of ‘The Bordeaux Gironde Chamber of Commerce’ one of the oldest & third founded in France 1705. It defends the interests of 70,000 entrepreneurs from industry, services and trade categories. He started his journey with ‘Masters’ s in International Wine and Spirits Business Management’ from the most famous & unbeatable wine region Bordeaux, France. Which is in highly qualified administration, business & technical skills in the Wine & Spirits (Vins et Spiritueux) business.

Before finishing his educational race line he got an offer from very famous & world’s #2 award-winning French wine brand Pernod Ricard, which is a world-renowned premium wine business with iconic brands across all over the world but unfortunately, the visa process got delayed and he lost his job. Sad but true, otherwise he could have a part of top most Pernod Ricard brand.

While recovering from this challenging situation, without wasting his time he took place in a ‘GOOGLE COURSE’. As per the new skills for a new digital world, this education makes you an industry expert, top entrepreneur & one of the world’s leading employers. These are the real-world skills he wanted to reach his goal and make him strong to fight the current world’s business situation & finally has become a successful ‘Google Certified’ professional.

As soon as cheerfully he finished his education & Google certification with his full of commitment & scope of goals, immediately he got a job offer from ‘Domaine Marc Rougeot, Burgundy, France, and he started work with a very renowned and historic winery. It was a memorable work experience to work with Marc Rougeot, lovely French people, he said

Here the wines are produced in Meursault, Burgundy, France. Each terroir is vinified separately to create fragmented cuvées. Winemaking is without sulfite for a total expression and respectful of the soil of origin & fully Organic Vineyard. The rearing is carried out in 228 l Burgundy barrels for 12 to 20 months without racking or batonnage, Sankalp said.

The Œnologist – A Winemaker, fascinating story of a young fellow ‘Sankalp S SHENDE’. Born in the depths of the Indian culture, whose passion for wine led him to the very epicenter of the wine world & experience spanning many World-Famous Wine Regions, Countries & many Continents.

Proudly said, Sankalp is the India’s First Certified Winemaker Awarded by Google for Current World’s Business High Tech Professionals and he is the First recognized qualified Oenologist (Winemaker) from North-Eastern Region of Maharashtra called ‘Vidarbha’.


He is the 2nd Generation wine enthusiast, working overseas as an Oenologist & Scientist-Researcher to discover with a glass in hand and having a wonderful experience from Old and New Wine World;

    Life His-Story

    Sankalp is from Black Gold City, a small town called ‘Chandrapur’ which is in Vidarbha Region Maharashtra, India. He comes from a middle-class, humble family from a defense background. His father is retired from the Central Government, mother is a housewife & his younger brother working with an International Bank.

    “I am very lucky that my parents placed a lot of emphasis on education, success through hard work, discipline, dedication & that is the reason for my passionate & successful life,” Sankalp said.

    Parents play the biggest role in their children’s career, future and success in life. Correct guidance for a better future without doubting my potential made me confident enough to reach my career goals with full freedom. When I chose the Wine & Spirits industry as my career destination, my parents stood up for me inspite of facing all kinds of negativity. “Thank You Mom-Dad” – Sankalp Says

    He is always in Research & Discovers new something, strongly believes in everything possible, can-do attitude, positive, physical groundwork & believes in do it yourself. The most important thing in his life is religious beliefs, moral values, curious to know about different culture all over the world, respect & believe in traditional values given by our ancestors.

    Socially Sankalp is a very lovable, Very soft-spoken, down to earth and fun-loving person. If we talk about his interests, he is an ‘Indian Athletic State Player’ of ‘Gymnastic High Jump’ & ‘Long Jump’. He won First prize in ‘200 Meter’, ‘Triple Jump’, ‘Gymnastic High Jump’ & ‘Long Jump’ too. He is a big animal lover, loves heritages, a nice pencil sketch artist, a perfect singer, other than this, he loves cooking and to preparing different styles of dishes to bring people together around one table.

    Sankalp has always been a dreamer, but he is one of those rare people who, with passion and commitment, has turned his dreams into reality. This along with the ability to make accurate observations, analyze and solve problems helps him to associate with great researchers.

    Sankalp’s Key of Interest In Wine In Unique Way

    Sankalp used to taste a beer and not a big fan of hard liquor. During his journey, he was exposed to the wonder called ‘Wine’, which enhanced his fascination to be a part of the wonderful wine industry. He was not only in love with the boutique of wines but also the fascinating stories behind it. Subsequently, he started exploring and tasting different varieties of wines and also began visiting wine festivals, several wine events where he stumbles across numerous wines & realized that a truly spectacular glass of wine could take your breath away and he couldn’t stop himself to draw in with wine when he began ‘Understanding a Wine Bottle Label’. Yes, ‘Understanding a Wine Bottle Label’ thrived him to understand & puzzle out the difference in how wine production is regulated throughout the world. He was surprised when he saw the label of a Wine bottle. It was quite impressive to see, ‘Wine itself telling its fascinating story through a label’, which he had not seen with any other liquor or Beer label in his life.

    Sankalp says, “as you learn about the regions, you find out the type of grapes grow there and how they vary”. In his opinion, the most distinctive characteristic of wine is based on the type of grape(s) used. Later he said, “the second most important distinction is the region, which specifically will relate to the flavour of the grapes. Soil and weather have dramatic effects on how grapes are produced. The region also determines, especially in the old world, the methods by which wine is produced and labelled. After these factors come the winery and vintage. However, these characteristics are constantly juxtaposed. May bad weather make bad vintage, which can have more of an adverse impact than any other quality. But at the same time, truly great winemakers can consistently produce outstanding wines, but there will always be variations in quality due to factors beyond their control.”

    Education His-Story

    If we speak about his educational his-story, since he had already developed a fascination for wines, he wanted to pursue his further as a career option to reveal the mysteries of the wine world. He took a deep interest in learning the journey of fruit from its origin to its ending up in an exotic wine bottle.

    Sankalp was the best candidate & highly organized for his Institutes & Universities. His educational journey started with ‘PGD in Fermentation, Distillery & Wine Technology’ from GARGI, Nashik to developed skills in Oenology and business development.

    Many newcomers enquire about him to start their journey with the wine industry. He advises all of them to, “Meet & greet with your idols and heroes to learn professional secrets” – Sankalp Shende

    Ahead he said, I started exploring Wine Events, leading annual trade shows, conferences, visit production units, meet professionals. These days in the Covid-19 circumstance, you are adequately fortunate and have an incredible chance to attend conferences, events and to personally online meet experts from all over the world. It’s very fortunate to learn more, time-saving and inexpensive. I said fortunate you to all fledglings cause toward the early phase of your vocation stage you got an exceptionally large stage to make yourself amazing wine proficient.  We used to travel hundreds of kilometres to attend the events to meet experts, spending money on accommodations, food, and many more, so I state lucky you since promising circumstances coming to your doorstep. Use it, don’t waste’’ Sankalp said.

    To satisfy his thirst for further knowledge & to understanding the winemaking from experts, books, web, professors, visit multiple wineries, doing hands-on ground-level work for free, relishing the taste, aura and essence of several wines, which in turn also helped him gain practical knowledge about the tasting profiles of different wine varieties and producing it on a large scale. Slowly-gradually, he started making wine & successfully made it out of different fruits, which were well received and appreciated by experts & across multiple states.

    While educating himself, he got an offer for Cellarhand from the very established & renowned winery named ‘Deccan Plateau Vineyards’ to get trained with India’s first qualified winemaker Mr. Nitin Shinde. With a very creative team, they made perfect and best 2011 vintage wines.

    Deccan Plateau’ is the brainchild of Nitin Shinde, who has studied winemaking in Australia and the USA. It was a great Winemaking experience with Deccan Plateau Vineyards bring in the aroma-laden flavour of the delectable Indian spices, Carrying the legacy, accentuating the taste, making Deccan Plateau Wines a true signature brand!
